What is Article 243C of Indian Constitution
- In simple terms, Article 243C allows the State Legislature to determine the composition of Panchayats, including the representation of Chairpersons of Panchayats at different levels and the representation of members of Panchayats at the intermediate and district levels in Panchayats at the lower level.
- The provision also allows for the rotation of seats among Chairpersons of Panchayats at the village, intermediate, and district levels. Additionally, it specifies that representation at higher levels of Panchayats may depend on factors such as population size and the backwardness of the area, as determined by the Governor of the State.
